Hey everyone! 🙂
Hope all’s well with you guys. I’m back with yet another post featuring “healthy desserts” that I got a chance to check out thanks to Chef Ruhee – the woman behind Cocoa Cottage and a masterchef who has pretty much cracked the ideal way to make desserts the healthy way with Optimum Nutrition (India). Yes! The thought of being able to have your cake and eating it too, without the fear of excessive calories is something everyone would like… right?
The event was held at Out Of The Blue, Bandra and the set up was quite basic but well-done. Chef Ruhee Bhimani and Suraj Datwani from Optimum Nutrition, India gave us some amazing insight into the world of Casein and Whey – two reliable sources that will bring about a healthy change in your food habits and lifestyle as a whole.
Although the desserts made with these, don’t taste exactly like their original, sinful versions, I think it’s a good enough reason to switch over to the healthy side only so that it actually proves to be beneficial in the long run.

Chef Ruhee started off with a demo of a couple of desserts that you can easily make on your own with alternative and super healthy ingredients like almond flour, flax seeds, dates, dried figs, oats and coconut flour. I wasn’t aware of alternatives like almond and coconut flour since we hardly ever come across recipes that actually have them.
The evening soon turned into a light-hearted tasting session as we took a generous bite of about 5 different desserts that are not only healthy but also can be consumed as post-workout treats. How cool is that? Here’s our photographic journey into all things healthy… 🙂
Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients: Almond Flour, Casein (Chocolate Flavour), Almond Milk, Xyltol and Dates

Sesame Truffle
Ingredients: Dried Figs, Gold Standard Whey Protein (Chocolate Flavour), Brazilian Nuts and Sesame Seeds

Peanut Butter Brownies
Ingredients: Pure Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Chia Seeds, Almond Flour and Gold Standard Casein

Hazelnut Fudge
Ingredients: Hazelnut Flour, Flaxseed Oil, Gold Standard Chocolate Whey

Oat and Flaxseed Cookies
Ingredients: Gold Standard Casein Vanilla, Flaxseed, Oats and Coconut Flour

In the end, I realised that as hard it may seem to give up on sweets when you’re trying to lose weight and become fit, there are alternative ways of satiating certain kind of cravings. I’m not saying these brownies taste as sinfully delicious as the ones that are made with their original ingredients, but to be able to still enjoy a healthy version of the same isn’t bad at all. It really couldn’t get better when most of these treats are in fact, ideal post workout bites.
Chef Ruhee in association with Optimum Nutrition has indeed made it a tad bit simpler to maintain a healthy lifestyle without depriving yourself of small joys like biting into a sweet brownie, gooey fudge or a chocolate truffle.
In case you’re wondering why I haven’t shared the recipe details, I’ve been told that Chef Ruhee is planning to compile them all together in the near future. I guess I’m looking forward to it as much you are. 🙂
