Burgs And Brews Festival at Café Mangii

The last time I did a review for Cafe Mangii was when they had Monsoon Sizzlers’ Fiesta. This time around, the festive mood is still resonating in the air and it’s the Burgs & Brews Festival that’s on in full swing!

What makes it even cooler is that you also stand a chance to win an iPad with the exciting contest that’s running along with the fest. All you need to do is select your favourite burger, capture those yummy moments in a camera and upload your best picture on www.facebook.com/cafemangii.
The Burgs & Brews menu consists of gourmet burgers that I personally think is a great selection specially for all the burger buffs out there. Succulent and generous in portion, these burgers make for a full fledged meal with absolutely no compromises. Although I didn’t try any of the beers in the offering, I suggest you do, as it would only add to the fun experience!

For those of you who like their red meat and have big appetites that can savour big meals, go ahead and grab the Mighty Burger. With the striking flavour of onion rings in every bite, meat that’s perfectly grilled and the horseradish mayo it comes with; this is one hell of a burger that was thoroughly loved. We officially declared it as the best we’d tasted that evening!

Up next was the Sloppy Joe – Indian Style Burger. Honestly, it wasn’t as good as I’d imagined it to be before it arrived at our table. A tad bit disappointing as the chicken neither tasted like a classic Sloppy Joe nor had any “Indian” twist to it except a bland version of I’m guessing tandoori chicken. We concluded that it’s the burger to order only if you prefer to play safe and aren’t very open to experimenting. On the other hand, the mustard sauce as an accompaniment turned out to be a blessing and gave it the twist we were hoping!

Up next was the Thai Crab Burger. One statement that would sort of sum it up – This burger is NOT for everyone. With a strong lemongrass-like flavour overpowering the actual essence of crab meat that had a very cous cous like texture (which was served as a distinctive patty) this is one burger that we actually liked only because it had a whole new, unmatched flavour to offer. The aftertaste was interesting enough to linger on much after finishing our meal. I recommend it to not just the seafood fans (since the crab meat flavour isn’t strong) but also to those who like trying out unconventional food.

The exotic burgers at Café Mangii are served with Cajun fries or homemade potato wedges, a decent amount of their in-house salad which by the way is brilliant; some creamy mayo, tomato ketchup and fantastic mustard sauce that has the perfect consistency!

Unfortunately we didn’t check out any of the vegetarian options so I can’t comment on them.
They have two on this particular menu — The Wellington and the other is the Soy Barley & Cracked Wheat Burger. Let me know if you try out any of them by leaving your comments.

P.S. There’s also a special offer. *woot woot* With every zestful burger that is ordered, you can enjoy a Kingfisher Lager only for Rs. 99! Pretty cool eh?

The evening ended on a sweet note as Khalid, the restaurant manager made it special by offering us some amazing Baked Philadelphia Cheesecake. This being from their regular menu, I have to say it was great to have eaten genuinely good cheesecake. The cream cheese was fresh and the consistency was perfect. #HighlyRecommended
The festival is on till the end of November. I say go for it and bite into some of the most unique to taste burgers because you know you’re not going to get this variety anywhere else. 🙂
